There’s a Drumming in the Distance. November 15, 2015 / Words / No Comments There’s a drumming in the distance. There is sadness in the air. For the towers in the City, Once so strong; no longer there. There are sirens at the Pentagon, And our leaders speak of war. There’s a drumming in the distance As we’ve never heard before. There’s a cell phone up in heaven, And she tries to make a call. But the drumming growing louder Makes it hard to hear at all. There are flags in every neighborhood, There’s a prayer on every tongue, And the elders start to worry For their grandsons still so young. There’s a drumming in the distance. There is sadness in the air. There’s a candle in our window, But the flame has lost its glare. September 15, 2001 Ken Hale
There’s a Drumming in the Distance.
There’s a drumming in the distance.
There is sadness in the air.
For the towers in the City,
Once so strong; no longer there.
There are sirens at the Pentagon,
And our leaders speak of war.
There’s a drumming in the distance
As we’ve never heard before.
There’s a cell phone up in heaven,
And she tries to make a call.
But the drumming growing louder
Makes it hard to hear at all.
There are flags in every neighborhood,
There’s a prayer on every tongue,
And the elders start to worry
For their grandsons still so young.
There’s a drumming in the distance.
There is sadness in the air.
There’s a candle in our window,
But the flame has lost its glare.
